![]() But not enough demos of the single instrument to make a decision. LASS has a great reputation, and I've heard good things about LA Scoring Strings First Chair 2. The "Irish Americana" demo on the website does a good job showing off what the solo instruments sound like. ![]() It's cut-down version of the Solo Strings 2 product. Kirk Hunter is running a half-off sale until the end of the month, so Pop/Rock Strings are currently selling for $125. So that pretty much leaves Kirk Hunter Pop/Rock Strings and LA Scoring Strings First Chair 2. Plus, the short sustains (with the bow changing direction) bug me. I really, really want to like Quantum Leap Solo Violin. (If I'm wrong, I'd be glad to hear it - $150 is an excellent price). I've not really heard enough about them to make an informed decision, but Dan Dean Advanced Solo Strings also seems to have that a string quartet vibe to it. I'm looking for an instrument that works well as a solo instrument - less severe than a "string quartet" sort of sound, and more a warm soloist.īased on the what I've heard in the demos, London Solo Strings sounds too shrill and string quartet-ish. Vienna Symphonic Library Solo Strings and EWQL Gypsy are out of my price range. I've also got NI Sessions Strings, but that's a string section, so it doesn't work for solos. But I'm looking for something a bit more "playable", so to speak. With some work, I can get pretty good sound out of them. I've also got the Miroslav Philharmonik, which has a nice solo violin. I've got the Garritan Personal Orchestra 4, which has solo violins ( not the Garritan Stradivari Violin). I don't have the full version of Kontakt, so that rules out Kirk Hunter Solo Strings, Kirk Hunter Concert Strings 2 and Spitfire Solo Strings. I'm hoping I can find something on an admittedly low budget - $300 maximum. Viola and cello would be a bonus as well. I've been wading through the sea of string libraries looking for a nice solo violin.
